How long have you been together?

We have been married 33 1/2 years....34 in September. But I saw John at a church dance when I was 15 years old(He was with his girlfriend) and I went home and told my mother that I had met the person I was going to marry.....so I have known John for 40 years.....now that is OLD!!!

How long did you date?

We dated on and off until his mission (He had THREE girls in high school that trailed him like puppy dogs and we were dumb enough to share him.....we each got attention every three weeks) and then I wrote to him every week while he was on his mission. (John teases me that I waited for him between engagements....but not true....he is the only man I was ever engaged to) We married one year after he was home from his mission.

How old are you?

Unfortunately.....a senior citizen.....just wait it will happen to you too.

Who eats more?

Another unfortunate truth......I DO! I love FOOD and I love to EAT! John does love a good bowl of cereal every night.....he has always been that way, even when we were dating.

Who said I love you first?

John did....we were driving down 12th Street in Ogden and he told me those wonderful words.

Who is taller?

He is!

Who is smarter?

John is definitely ABSOLUTELY smarter than I could ever dream of being. He has an incredible memory and has forgotten more than I will ever know. I am amazed by his knowledge. I am so proud of him.

Who does the laundry?

I do the laundry.....I am not sure that John even knows how to work our washer....He could figure out the dryer very easily though with his brains.

Who does the cooking?

I do the cooking.....but I like to cook so it is fine. John helped with the cooking when I had the extreme morning sickness....thanks honey.

Who pays the bills?

I do.....but I certainly appreciate John for his hard work and generous nature.....Thanks so much, John!

Who mows the lawn?

John is the master gardener.....he mows the lawn and takes care of the yard......he only let me start planting flowers about 3 years ago......He could be a gardener at the temple he is so talented.

Who does the dishes?

I do! How else could I get these lovely, age spotted, soft hands?

Who drives when you are together?

I drive. John has allowed me this request "to drive." He is the best navigator in the world.....we will never be lost with him reading a map or figuring out the direction we need to go.

Who is more stubborn?

That is a very interesting question......John is Dutch!!! We know how stubborn Dutchmen can be. But John doesn't put his foot down about very many things and he is not demanding of me. I am more stubborn about allowing people to help me....I don't like to bother them....I would rather serve than be served....so I get stubborn then. So, we are both stubborn in our own ways.

Who kissed who first?

John kissed me after the Christmas Dance at the door.....Lovely!

Who asked who out first?

Funny story.......John told his friend, Dee, that he was going to ask me to the Ben Lomond Christmas Dance.....Dee told John that he had already asked me and so John didn't end up asking me.....but Dee lied to John....he hadn't asked me till later that night......so we ended up doubling to that dance and John and I talked a lot and it was a great DATE (with John.) So, after finding all this out.....I asked John to go to the Christmas Dance at Weber High......sorry about the long story.

Who proposed?

John proposed in a very romantic way.....dinner at a wonderful restaurant......he pretended that he left his wallet in the car after we were seated and left for a few minutes. After we ate, we walked in the shops by the restaurant and we bought some candy.....when we went to pay.....the cashier said, "I think I have a box for you." She handed me a long florist's box and John and I walked out to a beautiful gazebo under the stars.....he had me open the box and there were a dozen roses with a jeweler's box in the middle.....my ring......He then asked me to marry him and I cried and cried with happiness and said, "YES!!!!!" (I don't think we would trust a total stranger with roses and a ring now days)

Who has more siblings?

I do. I have three brothers and two sisters. John has three sisters and one brother.

Who wears the pants in the family?

I say that John does.....but he might think differently.
