June 4th, Day 7 in Kauai

Friday morning saw us all busy making Baked Ziti so that we could eat when everyone came back to the condo from their fantastic tubing activity.  Everyone but myself, Paisley and Creed went tubing at an old sugar plantation on the south side of the island on plantation island that was purchased by the founder of AOL.  Years ago, in the mid 1800's, thousands of acres of sugar cane were planted by Portugese and Asian immigrants on the south side of the island.  The yield from one cane of sugar was only about 2 sugar cubes and required a lot of water for it to grow, so it is no longer economical. In order to supply the water to the fields the owners created elaborate irrigation systems made of canals and tunnels.  Now there is no sugar cane grown, so the tunnels and canals are being used as money makers.  People wear lighted helmets and tube in the tunnels and canals for 1 1/2  hours. The family had a great time and they said they spent half of the tube time with their lights turned on since they were in the tunnels.  They all LOVED this activity.  Colton and Cannon were able to go and really had a great time.

After the tubing, the family drove to Kipu falls and swimming hole and jumped off the cliff into the water below.  Of course, I always worry that someone is going to get paralyzed, so it is probably better that I wasn't a witness.  They all had a great time and raved about the cliff jumping as much as the tubing.

Brady did a somersault off the cliff---he is a terrible daredevil---I had to make this picture smaller so the whole view would be included

Cannon was so brave. He didn't hesitate at all.....just jumped after he watched Brady.  He seems tiny when you see how far down he is jumping.  I was glad to see that Brady waiting to catch him.

Johnny went feet first

I love that Jocelyn has her nose plugged with her hair flying up and her daddy is right there on
the cliff side to jump in if he has to save her

Megan plugged her nose too

Paisley, Creed and I had fun watching Barney, singing, playing, and even taking a nap, while everyone else was gone.  They don't look too excited in this photo, but we had a good time together.

SuperBaby

Cannon and Creed spent time in the air playing with their daddy and Brady

Our last night in Kauai was bittersweet.  We had such a great vacation, but it seemed like it had passed in seconds instead of days.  We had such a great meal with baked ziti, garlic bread, and salad.  We finished off the popsicles and as many treats as we could eat.  We played cards while the boys went to play tennis under the lights.  We all felt pleased and happy with our time at the Bali Hai.
