JUNE 1ST, DAY 4 IN KAUAI

Day 4 was another fun family memory in Kauai. We decided to go to Hanalei Beach Park, a beach we had seen that was totally swamped with people earlier in the week. We used the coolers to take all the sandwich fixings and cool drinks for a picnic. Johnny and Brady had rented surf boards and they were all business about trying a new sport. Even Colton and Cannon had fun surfing. The other "big kids" had rented boogie boards and had fun riding them. Creed snoozed peacefully in the pack and play and Paisley freaked out over the sand and water. Paisley slowly warmed up to the sand and water because of Brady and Laurel's patience.

Colton and Cannon helped carry water to the coolers
Grandpa was "hanging loose" on the beach

Paisley did NOT like the sand at first. She wouldn't walk on it or sit on it. After a little while, Paisley decided it was all right to play in the sand and even dip her gold fish crackers in it for a little coating.

Jocelyn put her boogie board to snooze use

Johnny took to the board pretty easily when the waves cooperated

Colton took a turn

Greg was a patient teacher

Grandma Char borrowed Megan's hat to keep the sun off of her. Creed's pack and play is behind her. He was totally comatose from the heat, I think. He had a great nap.

Greg took time to bury the boys in the sand.

Laurel took a turn in the surf on the boogie board

Emily didn't know I took this photo, but I thought I better show her 10k training body

Brady was very patient in helping Paisley overcome her fears of the water. Slowly, they reached the ocean.

Paisley liked grandma's glasses
Creed finally woke up from his LONG nap and was so happy

Brady gave Paisley a little shower before we all ate our picnic lunch.
She liked this water just fine.

The "old married couple"

After lunch we drove to Kealia beach which is between Kapaa and Princeville. This is the huge wave beach we had checked out the day before. There are always plenty of locals at this beach.
We drove our cars onto the sand and pulled out the boogie boards, chairs, and surf boards. John, Brittney, and Creed had a front row seat.
Check out the waves behind Greg---poster boy
Megan enjoyed the big waves to boogie board

Emily and Cannon decided to race on the sand

Love this picture of Colton
Where is the surf board? Look below---
Brady didn't want to let the surf board only be used in the ocean

The 2 doctors enjoyed the break from their hospitals

Uhhhhh---Laurel---this isn't a nude beach
Grandma loves these cuddles

We stopped to buy fresh corn on the cob and pineapple on the way back to Princeville. We spent the evening around the pool again while our sweet Greg grilled chicken and steak for us. We had a feast---grilled chicken, steak, baked potatoes, fresh corn, pineapple, and watermelon. It was so nice to sit in the dim light of the pool area and relax, visit, and eat such good food. Another memorable day for the Wolthuis clan in Kauai.
