THANKSGIVING HOLIDAY FUN

We had a great Thanksgiving holiday weekend. Perfection would have been having the entire family together. But I will take any time some of us can be together and look forward to times in the future when we will all be together.

Jocelyn came home from BYU-Idaho and had the entire week with us. After two days home, she was ready to get back to her friends at school. I was grateful we could go to New Moon together, decorate for Christmas, clean, and do a little Christmas shopping with each other. I enjoyed every second with her home.

Emily, Greg, and the boys arrived Wednesday night. So fun to have the house full of laughing and loud voices. Thursday morning the boys decided to look through every Black Friday newspaper ad and circle their choices for Christmas.
Santa, Oh Santa.......
Colton and Cannon are now taking piano lessons.
I love to hear them practice. It brings back memories
of our children learning to play.

We watched some football and prepared food to take to Devin and Eileen's for Thanksgiving dinner. We had a wonderful dinner, fun company, and great desserts.
Cody, Stephanie, Josh and Caitlyn drove from Denver to be with us. We love time spent with this wonderful family.
Grandpa Devin with Josh and Caitlyn
Eileen and Stephanie worked hard cooking and cleaning up!
Thanks girls! I felt pampered!
Gwendolyn and Grandma Char--the two redheads
The men enjoyed a rip roaring game of Wii bowling---John even relaxed
Jocelyn is still mommy's baby
Poor Em was feeling Baby C in her ribs
The young cousins had a Wii bowling tournament too.
Greg and Emily Herbert really made us laugh
I don't even know how this all happened....but we all laughed---even Lorin and Emily DeVries

Friday morning, Jocey, Emily, Cannon, Crew and I left for Salt Lake to do a little shopping before going to the airport to pick up Johnny and Brittney who were flying in from Portland. Greg and Colton went fishing with Grandpa DeVries. We drove to Ogden and met John at Texas Road House. Yummy!
Brittney, Johnny and Cannon...

One of my favorite Cannonisms---
Emily and I were talking about the timing for the new baby's blessing. I said, "Emily, if we bless the baby over the holidays, your siblings will be here and I can give you a lot of help."
Cannon piped up and said, "You don't have the priesthood." He thought Em and I were literally discussing we women blessing the baby. Oh the pureness of a 6 year old who is learning about the gospel. I was impressed.

Em and family left Saturday morning so that she could go to the Idaho Falls hospital and have another stress test on the baby. We all worried about that little guy and getting him safely here.

Johnny, Brittney, Jocelyn and I drove to Provo for the BYU/Utah football game. John was on call and couldn't leave Ogden. We missed having him with us. We got to town early enough to drive through In and Out for lunch. It is so fun to have that fast food chain expanding to Utah.

Oh the joys of the annual state rivalry football game. Unbelievably, we didn't have to even put on a coat until halftime.
These darling boys were some of the first fans we met as we entered the stadium. I had to ask to take their picture. I wonder how long their parents kept this haircut????
Johnny and Brittney were thrilled to catch up with some of their dearest friends who moved from Portland to Phoenix.
Johnny was getting ready to concentrate on a win
The BYU and Utah marching bands combined to play the Star Spangled Banner to begin the game.
Jocey and I were sitting close to each other to stay warm and
calm our nerves.
These two Utah fans sat directly behind us. They were actually pretty pleasant and decent. We talked amiably throughout the game and shook hands when it was over. When I asked to take their pictures, the one in red, said he wanted a "shake face" pictures. So NO they haven't been drinking. They start shaking their heads back and forth as fast as they can and the person taking the picture snaps the picture and tah da.
The fans on the field tell the story. WE WON IN OVERTIME!!!
We were all smiles at the finish.
An exuberant BYU fan put this post together with a picture of the winning catch and TD run by Andrew George. So GLAD the Cougars WON!!!

Sunday morning we were on the road by 6:15 a.m. to get Johnny and Brittney to the airport once again. I met Jocelyn's roommate in Salt Lake and brought her back to the house with me. Jocelyn and Katie were on the road by 9:00 a.m. and the silent house was back. Can't wait for Christmas holidays!

Sounds like things went way too quick like they always do, but looks like a LOT of fun. Glad BYU won and glad everyone traveled safely. Love the picture of Em and Greg "kissing".
