COLTON DE VRIES IS #9
I drove to Idaho Falls to watch Colton play football. Nine years old and number nine! Colton loves football and this is his first year playing tackle football. Colton played mostly defense but a little offense too. He did a great job and his team won.
We froze while the wind and the rain whipped around us. Luckily Emily had a blanket that had a tarp covering on one side and we huddled underneath. After a few minutes, the storm blew out and the sky was blue. I had a great time even though the visit was short.
Ready to tackle

#9 in pursuit
Crew and Cannon found sharp sticks and ran them up and down the fence. Of course, I told them to get rid of them because all I could think of was John's granddad losing his eye from being poked by a stick when he was 10. Boys are always boys
Look at that adorable Crew
Emily and Creed
I love to cuddle with these adorable grandsons

SILLYNESS
Wolthuis posterity
John and these five children are my heartstrings. How I LOVE being a mother to these GREAT children. Nothing can bring a smile to my face faster than being with the ones I adore! I wanted to take some pictures of the kids while we were together for mom's 75th birthday party. These are the priceless, crazy pictures that ensued.
The sisters thought they would hold their brother for a picture
Strong?
Success!
Brady is directing the next photo shoot
Brady got what he wanted....Johnny on the ground
Bend at your knees when you lift, Jocelyn
The next day, Sunday, we had a combined birthday dinner for Jocelyn, Grandma Char, Johnny and Emily since they all have birthdays within 4 days of each other. We sliced each of them a rice krispie square and stuck a candle in them. We sang HAPPY BIRTHDAY without all 4 verses and then said, "Blow out the candles now." The pictures tell the story.
Getting ready to blow
The finger pointing begins...."Johnny blew out my candle."
Johnny and Emily actually blew out Jocelyn's and Grandma's
Let's try again. Look at that guilty expression on you know who.
All of the silly things make for such happy memories. I can't wait until we can all be together again.

LABOR DAY WEEKEND
Jocelyn and I returned from Pittsburgh Thursday evening before Labor Day weekend. Greg, Em and the boys drove to Utah late Friday night and stayed with the DeVries'. Saturday, game day, was also John and my 36th wedding anniversary. Unfortunately, John had a migraine and was so sick in bed all day at home. I missed him! After hearing lots of warnings about traffic troubles for the freeway before the BYU game on Saturday, we left at noon for a 5:00 pm game in Provo. Needless to say, because we were prepared, we didn't have a seconds traffic delays. So we arrived about 2 1/2 hours early in 90 degree weather. But, the entire game was worth the heat. We had a great time and of course the WIN against Washington was great. BYU always has a former football great run the Y flag into the stadium to begin the game. The flag was carried in this game by Jim McMahon. Not being in his football playing shape, he walked the flag in more than ran it in. The crowd gave him a huge shout out.

Jim McMahon is in the blue jersey holding the Y flag
My nephew, Bart, came to the game wearing a CREATIVE shirt he designed himself. He placed a picture of Brigham Young in the middle of the shirt with the word Independent underneath the picture. Then below that are the words BYU Football 2011. Love it!
Greg, Emily and Colton
The halftime honored the former All-American quarterbacks that played for Coach LaVell Edwards. 32 quarterbacks came onto the field, but the main attention was given to Virgil Carter, Gifford Nielsen, Marc Wilson, Jim McMahon, Steve Young, Ty Detmer, Robbie Bosco, and Steve Sarkisian(the head coach of University of Washinton.) These players worked together the week of the game to raise over a million dollars for scholarships. The pictures aren't the best since I had to take them of the jumbo tron.
McMahon received loud applause from the crowdd
Everyone loves Steve Young! Especially Laurel!
Ty Detmer remains so humble and not wanting to be in the spotlight
Steve Young was the spokesman for the quarterbacks to announce the new foundation they would be in charge of to raise more money for more scholarships for BYU.
Coach Edwards spoke after Steve Young and looking at his hand, he said, "You know the difference between a quarterback (referring to Steve) and a center, (referring to himself)? A quarterback has notes to use for his speaking and a center doesn't." Everyone had a good laugh about that opener. Coach Edwards gave a GREAT speech. It seems hard to believe that he is 80 years old. Elder Holland also spoke and he was there to give each quarterback a huge hug.
Cute picture
Paul ended up coming to Provo from Rexburg and sat with us during most of the game.
How I love this little baby girl of ours.
All the Wolthuis "boys" came wearing the newly designed Brigham Young shirt.
We all left the game happy with the 1st win of the season and didn't even mind the heavy traffic.
Sunday was great with a family dinner after church. Em and family, Jocelyn, Grandma Char, and John and me all together to eat. It has been ages since we had a group to eat around the big table. I loved it. We all pitched in and so clean up was easy. Colton cleared the table and that was a big help.
Jocelyn was in charge of entertaining Crew by watching Barney......as you can see they both went right to sleep. Love this picture of those two on the couch. After Jocelyn woke up, she finished loading her car full of her things and drove to Idaho to move in and start a new semester at BYU-Idaho. I had to have a little crying spell with her leaving again.
On Labor Day, we all went to the Junction to Fat Cats for bowling. We loved having bowling along with pizza, breadsticks and drinks delivered right to our lane. Even Crew enjoyed bowling.
Look at grandpa's great form
Grandma V looks all curled up
Emily loves to toss the ball high so that it hits about half way down the alley.
Colton did a great job
Love this picture of Emily and her boys!!!
Cannon tried all sorts of maneuvers with his bowling ball
Crew kept carrying different balls for each of his turns
Daddy and Creed
Grandma loves any time with the grandchildren
Wow! Greg really had speed on his ball.
What a great picture of Em and her baby boy
Believe it or not!!! I won with a score of 127.
The boys had fun with tokens and games. Crew likes carrying the tokens around and then placing them in the game or ride as much as doing the activity. Crew had a blast on the small merry-go-round. Greg, Em and the boys left from Fat Cats to go home to Idaho Falls. We certainly had a fun Labor Day!
